Research and development

New solutions, prototypes and process improvement: R&D working hand in hand with the engineering office and workshops.

Research and development

Technical excellence and innovation

Research and development is a priority for Marcont Structures. Its aim: to develop solutions for our clients and partners while continuously improving the quality and reliability of our products.

Engineers and technicians in the R&D department work with the engineering office and the design studio, close to the manufacturing workshops.

Working together, they move quickly from a client’s need to a product that is designed, calculated, prototyped and then manufactured in series.

Missions

What our R&D does

  • New solutions

Designing custom products for clients, project owners, architects and engineering firms.

  • Prototypes

Building prototypes and trial assemblies in the factory before series production.

  • Production processes

Improving manufacturing processes for quality, reliability and efficiency.

Approach

From idea to product

  1. Listening

Regular exchanges with our clients and partners to understand the use, the site and the project constraints.

  2. Design

The design studio draws the shapes, particularly for decorative lighting poles and custom projects.

  3. Calculation

The engineering office sizes the structure to the client’s requirements and national and international specifications.

  4. Prototype

Assembly prototypes are built in the factory to validate manufacturing and erection.

  5. Testing

Mechanical performance is checked by testing before the product is approved.

  6. Industrialisation

The approved product moves into series production, with its inspection procedures.

Calculation and testing

Calculated and verified structures

Overhead line supports are designed with PLS-Pole software, to the client’s requirements and national and international specifications, with careful use of material.

For DISTRIMAT power distribution poles, maximum working load and top deflection are checked by a pull test: the pole is fixed at its base and the load is applied 0.25 m below the top.

Ecosystem

Industry and research

  • With manufacturers

Metalwork solutions developed with major public lighting manufacturers, based on feedback from our clients.

  • With university research

Close links with university laboratories, to go beyond an empirical understanding of the physics involved.

  • A culture of ideas

A culture that encourages new ideas and high standards, driving innovation in design, processes and products.
